Passenger flow in Vladivostok airport grew by 16% in January 2017
In January 2017 Vladivostok International Airport (JSC “VIA”) grew passenger flow by 16 percent as compared to the accounting period of 2016, having provided services to around 136 thousand passengers.
Substantial growth has been noted at the international destination. In January 2017 international passenger flow grew by 27 percent and comprised 53.4 th. persons. At domestic airlines the services were provided to 82.3 th. passengers, which is 10 percent more than the same period a year before.
- Vladivostok airport continues to operate actively on development of the international routes, which corresponds to development thrust of Vladivostok as a center of international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. Airport growth prospects are closely related to development of inbound tourism, - Igor Lukishin, JSC “VIA” Director General said.
It should be noted that indicators of JSC “VIA” according to the results of 2016 are on the rise too. Over 2016 the airline provided services to 1 mln 850 th. passengers, which is 9 percent more than in 2015. So, the airport has returned to the pre-crisis level of passenger flow. At domestic airlines the services were provided to more than 1 mln 290 th. passengers (+4 percent), while to almost 560 th. passengers (+23 percent) at the international destination.
According to the statistics published by the Federal Air Transport Agency at year-end 2016, JSC “VIA” occupied 14th place in the overall ranking of traffic volumes through Russian airports in terms of passenger flow. Thanks to outperforming growth rates Vladivostok airport has risen 3 positions in the ranking having outpaced Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk and Mineralnye Vody airports. We remind that the rating positions are determined on the basis of direct passenger flow data, and transit passengers are not taken into account. So, according to the results of 2016 JSC “VIA” has become an absolute leader among the airports of the Far East and Eastern Siberia in terms of international passenger flow and overall direct passenger flow.
- Airport’s future is inseparable from achievements of the region. A unique gambling zone “Primorye” is opened in the Primorsky region, tourism and recreation clusters on the basis of the region’s nature resources in accordance with the adopted “Strategy of tourism development in the Russian Federation till 2020” were created, a unique project “The Free Port of Vladivostok”, the law “On the Far Eastern hectare” are in effect, and so on. Implementation of these projects in Primorye allows us forecasting increase of JSC “VIA” passenger flow at the level of 2 mln passengers according to the results of 2017, - Igor Lukishin, JSC “VIA” Director General emphasized.
