It is the first time Vladivostok Airport has handled 1.5 million passengers
On October 30, 2012 the one-and-a-half millionth passenger has been checked- in at Vladivostok Airport. The lucky traveler was Mr. A. Kondratiev heading for Incheon on flight KE 982 operated by Korean Airlines. Vladivostok Airport is expected to have handled over 1.6 million passengers by the end 2012.
Both Vladivostok Airport and Korean Air representative office held a celebration event to mark the one-and-a-half millionth passenger being handled by the airport check-in system.
Mr. M. Chetverikov, VIA director general & CEO commented that ” it is the first time the KPI of the company has reached the rate of 1.5 million passengers. It means that our plan for setting up a big air travel hub connecting the Russian Far East and Asia-Pacific countries. Is truly on the right track.
Vladivostok International Airport has been working actively on the route network expansion, attraction of air carriers and developing a hub-and- spokes system since 2008. Thanks to these efforts the total passenger flow has increased practically twice as much within four years. As for international flights it has grown up to 2.5 times. At that the South Korean destination is developing most actively, currently the flight frequency from Vladivostok to Seoul has reached 21 flights per week.
Mr. M. Chetverikov, director general and CEO of VIA was really pleased to share the joy of today's event with their reliable business partner Korean Airlines represented by Mr. Woo Sung Baek, Regional Manager. The air carrier has been steadily operating on flights from Vladivostok to Seoul since 1994 and making significant contribution to the air transportation development of the region. Beyond that Korean Airlines has become the first airline -supporter of the project “Open Skies” launching daily flights to Vladivostok.
At the end of the celebration event the lucky passenger has been presented with the two return tickets to Guam, gifts and the airport Business lounge service card valid for a year. The lucky ticket holder has left his thank- you- notes in the Corporate Welcome Book.
